I did the above. At first, I set the IP address and I couldn't do the
rest! So, I reset the router and started again. I did everything above
and the last step was to set the IP addr of the router to 192.168.2.1 .
After connecting the uplink, the whole LAN still hung. As before, the
lights on the BEFW11S4 flashed. Here's the sequence:
1) The Link/Act, Full/Col, and 100 lights on port 1 on the BEFSR41 come
steadily on, and
2) then immediately afterwards the Link/Act, Full/Col, and 100 lights on
port 2 on the BEFW11S4 start blinking.
They seem to blink in bursts. First, the lights on the BEFSR41 come on,
then the lights on the BEFW11S4 blink furiously for 3 seconds and then are
dark for 3 seconds; then, repeating, the lights on the BEFSR41 come on,
the BEFW11S4 lights blink for 3 seconds and are dark for 3 seconds. This
cycle repeats over and over.
During this time, the LAN is unusable and only a few packets (if that)
manage to get from one computer to another.
