Hi.  Make sure the COM port is powered "on" via the "SETUP" command.
I use Kermit since I don't have access to either Windows or DOS (I use Linux).
(I had to "bootstrap" it on a DOS machine to upload kermit; but now that it's
uploaded, I haven't needed DOS since.)
