RE: static electricity and wireless cards



Thanks for all the info!

Re: cable modem connection.  The connection actually works fine (my wired
machines can connect to the internet with no problem).  The wireless PC
card just keeps scanning and scanning and scanning with no connection.

I managed to get a wire-full PC card to work on my laptop.  It's far less
convenient, but at least I can do stuff.  I'm going to try borrowing
another wireless PC card and see if it's the WAP or the PC card which is
failing.
