Hi. I saw that you have a Samsung SM-308 CD-RW/DVD Combo drive. I am unable to use cdrecord to write to this drive. Are you able to help me? If so, I've included my output below. I'm using: 1) kernel Linux 2.4.18 2) modules for the SCSI emulation 3) a brand new Memorex CD-RW compact disc 4) both the CD drive and hard-drive on the same IDE controller (i.e., the CD drive is /dev/hdb) This is the first CD writer I've ever had with this machine. I can read CDs (via mount) fine. I have read the CD Writing HOWTO. (I've also tried the Samsung CD-RW that came with the drive unsuccessfully.) Thanks for any help. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # modprobe ide-scsi Feb 10 13:00:34 kernel: scsi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices Feb 10 13:00:34 kernel: Vendor: SAMSUNG Model: CDRW/DVD SM-308B Rev: T100 Feb 10 13:00:34 kernel: Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Feb 10 13:00:34 kernel: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 Feb 10 13:00:34 kernel: sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 24x/24x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray # cdrecord -v speed=2 dev=0,0,0 -data cd_image Cdrecord 2.0 (i586-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jorg Schilling TOC Type: 1 = CD-ROM scsidev: '0,0,0' scsibus: 0 target: 0 lun: 0 Linux sg driver version: 3.1.22 Using libscg version 'schily-0.7' atapi: 1 Device type : Removable CD-ROM Version : 0 Response Format: 1 Vendor_info : 'SAMSUNG ' Identifikation : 'CDRW/DVD SM-308B' Revision : 'T100' Device seems to be: Generic mmc2 DVD-ROM.
