Job Description:
DUTIES:
Design, create, test, and integrate strategic
information databases related to the Boston
Emergency Preparedness Training Institute.
Enhance capacity to track licensures,
certifications, and other credentialing of
students and training participants and instructors.
Design, create, test, and integrate web-based
volunteer tracking, information sharing, and
activation notification systems.
Integrate credentialing and tracking databases
with volunteer coordination and recruitment efforts.
Train end users in efficient and effective use
of the strategic information databases.
Develop strategies and specifications for
database systems developments and improvements
in liaison with stakeholders, ensuring strategic
information integrity.
Work collaboratively with IS Department, the web
designer and others to design and implement
complete web-based distance learning system with
dynamic database updating capability and strong
security protections.
Responsible for collaboration and cooperation
with the Ma Department of Public
Health (MDPH) Health Alert Network to ensure
integration with responder alerting,
notification, and deployment notices. May
supervise staff.
Core competencies include, among others, the
ability to: describe the agency role and chain
of command in emergency response; demonstrate
her/his role in regular drills; and recognize
deviations from the norm that might indicate an
emergency and take/ facilitate appropriate
action(s) such as communicating clearly within
the chain of command.
Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS in computer science, computer programming,
or related field OR 5 years of equivalent
experience may be substituted for the degree;
Master?s or other advanced degree in public
health or related field is preferred.
Minimum 5 years experience in management of
computerized information systems.
Minimum 3 years progressive data management
experience with dBase, Access, SQL, Oracle, or
other DB sw required.
Experience with one graphical software package
like PowerPoint, PageMaker, Visio, or Harvard
Graphics required.
Experience with web-based utilities and graphic
design is preferred.
Highly developed written and verbal
communication skills are required, as is the
ability to work collaboratively with others.
Highly developed conceptual and analytical
skills required.
Experience in information planning and project
management required.
Strong management and organizational skills
required.
Ability to perform multiple tasks in stressful
situations is required, as is the ability to
think independently and work as part of a team.
Ability to project a positive, professional
attitude required.
Knowledge of the emergency preparedness response
system in Metropolitan Boston preferred, as is
familiarity with Boston, its neighborhoods and
customs is preferred.
Boston Residency Required, or willingness to
relocate.
Hours per Week: 35
Shift: 9-5
