flying standby does not mean cheap flights

So, "flying standby" these days means that the passenger has the
flexibility to fly any time during a week -- it no longer means a
cheaper flight.

So, there is no monetary savings.

I think, sorry to say, I'm going to have to wait until the house is done
being dealt with.
