I think Noelle gave me some perspective on this. It's just money. And
yet a costly lesson :-).
The mistakes I made were:
1) Letting the broker talk me into such a low asking price, lower than I
was even asking for myself. I should have asked you before signing my
life away.
2) Telling the poor guy to call the broker. I think Uncle Jim is right --
that brokers are the leeches of the real estate industry. I should not
have garnered advise about buyers from the broker. I should have
discussed it with you and Jim Peterson before asking the broker. (To
be honest, I think if the broker who was less green, she (Jennifer
Johnson jennifer@metrorealtycorp.com) would have warned me about this
outcome of everyone getting upset and would possibly advised me not to
refer buyers I found myself to her.)
What's interesting about this whole predicament is that I would have been
just fine and dandy if I had never found out who the buyer was! So much
of life is perception -- an accidental meeting can create a different
view.
Anyway, I'll be glad when this is all over and, hopefully, forgotten.
