I was reading through: http://www.columbia.edu/~lnp3/mydocs/economics/LivingRoomHenwood Also, when I saw Doug Henwood on NOW With Bill Moyers, he mentioned his support of free trade. >From what I understand, Amartya Sen and Robert Reich also support free trade. This all confuses me. Is it that Doug Henwood (and presumably Amartya Sen and Robert Reich) support a free trade which does not support the corporations? How is it possible to negotiate a free trade agreement which does not make corporations even more powerful and the white men who run them even more wealthy? I read the posting about the polls showing that most people in the world support free trade. Is it that most of these people believe that they'll benefit as much as the corporations they work for? Is it that people in these polls equate "free trade" with "international solidarity" and thus explains their support? Or perhaps that "free trade" is equated with "the American way of life" (a desirable way of life) which has been exported world-wide? My confusion is giving me a knot in my stomach. Thanks for any enlightment on this issue.
