You could even have too strong of a signal, overloading your tuner. You could try another modulator, preferably another brand. To be honest, save up the money and buy a TV with video inputs. As a temporary measure, try turning down the brightness (black level) of the TV while watching DVD's. You may need to adjust contrast/picture (white level) to compensate.
