There's probably a pkgsrc > package for MacOS. That would be a sufficient compromise. For the dmg thing to work, someone would have to stick all the bits together and package it. It should have ruby, gem, fastcgi, light httpd or whatever. Alternatively, these should be added to the framework. Apache is in the framework I think, so it can be reliably used. But gcc4.0 not even compiling hello.c is unbelievable. Maybe something went wrong in my installation, Anyhow, I just got ruby 1.8.4 and gem. And it is using webrick.
