While most of the debate has been about illegal immigration, we must not
forget that excessive levels of legal immigration are also harmful to our
national interest.
The SKIL Act would raise the number of H-1B visas when, programmers like
me, are still unemployed in their preferred career, 6 years about the
dot-com bust.
Beyond the increase in the H-1B cap, the legislation would raise the visa
quota from 140,000 to a floor of 290,000 during a time when software
engineers and programmers are continuing to look for jobs in their field.
The SKIL bill is a subsidy for greedy businesses that are not interested
in training American workers for high-tech jobs nor paying them
competitive wages.
Please oppose this enormous increase in immigration.
Sincerely,
Robert
