1) Does the wired access work?
2) I have an orinoco-based card.  So, I guess at some point I did (as the
   root account):
   # apt-get install orinoco
   and it works on my computer.
3) Are you running a 2.4 kernel, or a 2.6?  (I recommend 2.6.)
