My suggested plan: 1) Actually try calling the people in France as Marie Steinman suggests, asking that a check be sent; if you'd like, I could call early tomorrow morning. 2) Wait a week to see if the check arrives. 3) Write a letter to your aunt and tell her the situation; suggest to her that the money has been stolen/laundered; include your email address. 4) Wait 2 weeks for her reply. 5) Contact Jacques and ask whether it is worth hiring a lawyer to get the money.
