Noelle, Hi - Thanks to you and Robert for your computer assistance. We got everything taken care of as follows: 1. Ed bought the separate hard drive that Robert recommended and we have all our files from the PC and the Mac backed up on that. So, if a hard drive crashes again, no problem. 2. Ed purchased a new working PC and we "recycled" the old non-working one. 3. I took my Mac iBook to "We-Fix-Macs" a placed I used years ago that is close by. They were able to recover my data and replace the bad hard drive with a new one purchased from Frys. They also added more memory and upgraded everything. It now works better than ever. I immediately copied my files on to the new separate hard drive that Ed purchased. They charged less than Apple quoted and didn't need me to bring in the separate hard. Apple wanted me to have someone else recover the data, then they would replace the hard drive. -N.
