I have never turned on my heater in this apartment. Besides the fact
that my place is so tiny that I have a bunch of stuff in front and over
it (fire hazard), I don't wish to add the CO2 to global warming, or pay
more for my electric bill. Don't think it (I) haven't been cold. I've
been freezing my kishkes (what the hell are those things?) off. But a.
I'm used to it. b. I am also used to exercising constantly to keep warm,
c. I keep myself wrapped in warm clothing head to foot, and d. I
continue my lifelong as an adult habit of lots of Cayenne pepper and
ginger, garlic and onion too. I never get sick, I do not suffer, except
for from my landlord extortionist kishke problems. What more, I never
leave my TV or computer on, I have them plugged into a whatchamacallit
which I turn off at all times I am not using said items. At night I
generally use one lamp with a CFL bulb. In my studio, no heat no
computer or TV, only CFL bulbs (unless a collector comes to
visit---rarely---then on with the wattage!) I have never driven, never
had a baby, still, as an American, my carbon footprint is huge compared
to the rest of the world! Probably mostly due to past activity of some
sort or another.
All of that said, you and Robert are heroes for never having had a
child (makes the biggest carbon footprint of all), and for driving a
Prius Hybrid., among many other factors, including helping to stay alive
a conservationist like me! by the way, my electric bill never tops more
that about $4 in a month. I am on their poor plan, a savings to me of
20% of my bill.
The point is, we could all do a lot better than we do. It is about
industry and it is about individual effort.
