Fw: Re: [Silicon_Valley_Cohousing] Japantown lot for sale

Maika forgot to include you in her reply, I think.

Hi Robert and Noelle,
We aren't yet able to invest in a project like this. My Dh would much rather be on the edge of town on the west side of town, of course the most expensive area. So down town isn't the area we are interested in.

Have you contacted Diana Chung and Mike Williamson. I don't think they visit much any more, but I believe they wanted to be in the down town where-I-live area. I think they are in a better position to get started on a housing project.

Maika,

Would you be interested in investing?

That is pretty exciting news. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to build some smaller units, condos over retail space like they did at Frog Song. They could provide some income for the group, reduce costs and I think condos might appeal more to single folks and small families.

Scrap the big house and build two more town houses and a communal building. I'm interested in a from scratch project, but I'm not sure about the location. It sounds like a great opportunity though for those folks who wanted to move down town into an urban situation like the ones in Oakland.

It would be so exciting to see a project started, even if we aren't involved.
Thanks for finding this opportunity Robert.

The townhomes described are absurdly large (1500 sq ft) and, if a common house were included, would probably shrink the size and lower the per-household cost, I think.

Anyway, anyone interested in a start-from-scratch project?
