Hi Noelle and Robert!

Perhaps you would like to attend this meeting. If you do, let us know what was said. I don't always agree with PDA as I feel I probably am a middle of the road Democrat, not real left leaning and not real right leaning. PDA is very left leaning.

Noelle, we hope you have a fun trip to the East Coast. Let us know how it went.

I'm sure you heard from Don about the wonderful time we had in Hungary, Croatia,
and Slovenia. Also this past Sun. we got together with my younger brother, Scott, in L.A. to tour the Griffith Observatory which was fun and interesting although a little disappointing regarding the planetarium show and how to make a comet show which was geared for children rather than for adults in a scientific way.

Gail

            PDA Western States Regional Meeting
            September 26, Oakland, CA
            Ca Nurses Headquarters

            Dear Gail,

In an effort to make it easier for members of the PDA community to attend our conferences, the PDA national team is scheduling regional meetings, which we hope are more accessible. The next meeting is September 26 in Oakland, graciously hosted by our friends, the Ca Nurses Association.

We'll be evaluating our progress and effectiveness, addressing ways to improve, sharing ideas and strategies for success, learning some nuts and bolts, and building our 2010 timeline. Click here for details and to RSVP.

These meetings give us a chance to step away from conference calls and interact with one another in a more meaningful way than a phone call or email ever could. PDA really is a community and it is hard to express how much we gain from the personal interaction at our gatherings. We hope you'll join us.

National co-chair of the PDA Healthcare NOT Warfare campaign, Norman Solomon, who has just returned from Afghanistan, and Michael Lighty, the political director of Ca Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee are our featured guests. Don't miss this opportunity to learn the latest developments on healthcare and warfare.

We face two huge issues in the upcoming months: healthcare reform and climate/energy legislation. There's a lot of work ahead to make either amenable to us. This meeting will serve to provide you with the most up to date information, resources, tools, and strategies to make a difference in September and beyond.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, please consider becoming an underwriter of this event. Click here to contribute, enter "
Oakland" in the special funds drive box at the bottom of the form.

The meeting is for old-time PDAers as well as brand new ones, so please come, share your ideas, learn from your peers, and enjoy the fellowship!

            Until Oakland,

Tim Carpenter for the PDA national team.

Progressive Democrats of America is a grassroots PAC that works both inside the Democratic Party and outside in movements for peace and justice. Our goal in 2009: Expand progressive influence in Congress as we build on our 2008 electoral successes. PDA's advisory board includes seven members of Congress and activist leaders such as Tom Hayden, Medea Benjamin, Thom Hartmann, Jim Hightower, and Lila Garrett.
