Meetup Description Please join us for a Vegan Thanksgiving Celebration in Mountain View on November 22, the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
Our gatherings are friendly and open to people of all ages and persuasions. The dinner is open to both veg*ns and non-veg*ns, but please note, that only VEGAN food can be brought to the Vegan Food Party.
This is co-hosted event with Bay Area Vegetarians. You can see this and other events listed here: http://www.bayareaveg.org/events.htm.Can you imagine a delicious vegan Thanksgiving for a change! We'll have lots of great holiday cheer without worrying about whether something is vegan or not. Now that's something to be thankful for!
If it is a chilly day, we might have a fire in the fireplace, maybe even roast vegan marshmallows after the feast if anyone can find some...? And if you feel like it, we can share a few tales of why we are thankful this year.
If you've never been to one of our Vegan Food Parties, you can click VFP for more information on what vegan food is, and what kinds of food you can bring.
In addition to being kind to animals, let's also be kind to Mother Earth. Please plan on bringing your own reusable place setting, cup and serving utensil for your dish. If you'd like to share your ingredient list or recipe for your dish, that's great!
Here are some vegan ideas for what to bring, but all vegan food choices are welcome.
- Tofurky
- Mashed sweet potatoes and gravy (creamy country gravy, from the Tofurky box, you can add mushrooms!)
- Stuffing
- Broccoli
- Lentil soup
- Sauted kale and onions
- Salad
- Squash
- Cranberry sauce (try soaking and blending organic dried cranberries with a little agave nectar.)
- Rice or risotto
- Home baked bread (with raisins?)
- Pumpkin pie
- apple or blueberry crumblePlease let the group know what you are thinking of bringing to keep duplicate items to a minimum. We recommend, of course, thinking global and shopping local (searching for in-season locally grown produce whenever possible...)
