So far here in the Goleta/Santa Barbara area as far as I know, none of the personnel agencies have had any job openings including temporary in the accounting field that would be suitable for me for the last 6 months it seems because I keep asking and contacting them. I get the feeling that personnel agencies here are dead in the water with pretty much no jobs for anyone, but of course I will keep trying. In the meantime as of 12/26 I have gotten an unpaid part-time internship for a non-profit through SBCC's Sheinfeld Center for Entrepreneurship for this semester to start right away. I will be gaining more experience with non-profits, QuickBooks, start-ups, Business Planning, and Strategic Planning plus this will help me to regain my confidence which has ebbed having been unemployed for so long. I feel this opportunity could lead to other things later on. For ex. if I end up really liking this organization, the owner is going to try to get major funding and could then be able to pay me if I want to stay on. The owner is very flexible and realizes that if I get another paid full-time job, I can stop my work with her at any time, and she will just feel grateful for any help I have given her to that point. Of course I will continue to job hunt while working this part-time internship. Thank you and Robert again for your wonderful Christmas gift of the pretty Fall/Thanksgiving theme quilted table runner and the gold tablecloth and green napkins. We actually returned the tablecloth you gave us to get the next size smaller so that the ends wouldn't hang down so much when we are entertaining fewer people, so it's perfect now. We look forward to using them in the future. The day before yesterday my car's battery stopped functioning very suddenly and was completely corroded without any warning fortunately while in our carport, so I had to buy a new one as it had passed the 3 year warranty deadline by 9 days which was annoying. We were glad it didn't happen while we were on our trip to Healdsburg and back. We hope you have a very nice New Year's Eve celebration. What will you be doing? We will be at the Yacht Club for a dinner/dance with many of "the group".
