You have a laptop? I didn't know that. I have an Acer, but I don't recommend it. I really like my Lenovo at work (great keyboard, 'tho display isn't great) and I really liked my old Dell laptop before it died. So, overall I recommend either a Lenovo or Dell, and, in general, it's better to get an older computer since Ubuntu runs better on older hardware than newer hardware. However, since your current laptop is not broken, I would just try to get it to work. My suggestion is to (1) copy/backup all your data on to an external hard drive (you can buy 'em for about $100 or less -- you should have one on hand for backups, anyway) and (2) reinstall Karmic. (I love Karmic. Definitely the best linux release ever. My computer at work and my other laptop will stay on Karmic forever, if I can help it.) > take care, > --kathryn > > katciao
