Sunday 12/12 @ 11am is when my group will be teaching. Are you willing to be one of our students? ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Tue, 26 Oct 2010 12:46:50 -0700 (PDT) From: joyce anue <http://profiles.yahoo.com/joyceanue> Reply-To: http://www.googlegroups.com/~yestraining2010 To: http://www.googlegroups.com/~yestraining2010 Subject: small teaching group parameters and schedule Hi Everyone, Just wanted to share a few things about the small group teaching you will all be doing during the training during December and January. 1) Each group will present a class to an invited audience of 6-8 students. Students teachers in the group are responsible for inviting 6-8 participants, preferably those new to yoga. Family members and friend are OK. Have your guests come 10-15 minutes before class starts so we can start promptly at the designated times below. 2) Each teacher will have 20- 30 minutes to present a portion of a whole class. One person should be designated to teach each part (re: introduction and warm-ups, main body of class, cool down and savasana. Savasana should not be more than 5 minutes. Please do your best to stick to your alotted time. If you run over significantly (more than 5 minutes, I may signal you to wrap up your section). 3) When one teacher is presenting, the other teachers in the group will listen attentively and may offer corrections or support of the class with props as necessary. The other teachers participation should be minimized and designed to support the active teacher. Assisting teachers should avoid speaking if at all possible. 4) Once the class is finish and our guests have left, we will reconvene for feedback and "debriefing". I'll talk more about how giving effective feedback next month. 5) You will definitely want to plan, review and practice your session ahead of time. The assistants (Devin and Mindy) and I are available if you have questions about what to or not to include in the sessions. The only weekend class time I will give you to prepare for this and ask questions is on Sunday November 21st from 3-5 pm. You will want to spend additional time meeting with your group outside of class or during our lunch breaks. 6) Because we only have four groups, you will all teach in December (see schedule below). Our first group will start be 9:15 am-10:15 with feedback immediately after. We will probably end up doing feedback for the second group that morning during or after lunch. I think you will all be hungry by 12:30 pm. Bring a snack if you know you will be hungry. Yoga for Balance (Coco, Julie, Dana) 9:15 am Saturday, December 11th Vinyasa Flow (Soodie, Eva, Jenny, Janet) 11:00 am Saturday, December 11th Yoga Fundamentals (Wendy, Inga, Lacy) 9:15 am Sunday, December 12th Yoga For Health (Marilyn, Kathy, Cindy and Noelle) 11:00 am Sunday, December 12th FYI our last quiz will be in November so you have time to prepare for the final exams in January (practical and written) and your small group teaching in December. Best wishes, Joyce
