Dear Family and Friends,
I have been diagnosed with a heart
problem, a leaky Mitral valve, that needs to be repaired. I'm scheduled to have
heart surgery, Aug. 7th, at NYU Medical Center, in NYC. The cardiac surgeon is
Dr. Stephen Colvin, and you can look him up on the Internet. I'll be going to
NYC, Aug. 4th, and will stay in a hotel across the street from the hospital,
before and after the surgery. They said I will be in the hospital a minimum of 5
to 6 days, and in the hotel a minimum of 7 days, after I'm discharged from the
hospital. I am not going to tell my Mother about the surgery, and PLEASE
DO NOT talk to her about this EVER. Thanks.
My girl friend, of 22 years, (we're not
Gay), will go with me, and be with me the whole time. Ilene, in her 50's is a
friend, neighbor, nurse, and healing touch practitioner.
A friend/neighbor, Melissa, will look
after my house, water the plants, etc.
I have hired a Case Manager, RN, from an
agency, to look after my Mom, and "be me". As you may know, Mom has 24 hour care
at home, (4 caregivers on shifts), a house keeper to clean and do laundry, and a
gal who does the grocery shopping once a week.
In the event of a hurricane, the Case
Manager will take my Mom to an Assisted Living facility, possibly in Jupiter
(there are some nice ones there), where they take in people during hurricanes.
Since Mom lives on an island, one block from the Ocean, she has to be evacuated
when there is a hurricane warning.
When I come home, I will have a CNA, from
the same agency as the Case Manager, live in my house, and take care of me,
until I am able to drive, and be independent again.

Love You All,
Enid
Hello everyone.
It is with great sadness that I
share with everyone that in spite of all your prayers and wonderful positive
intentions and thoughts, Enid's little body was unable to tolerate the second
surgery and she did not survive. I am unable to explain the why of it all,
but know that the medical staff spent several hours last night doing
everything that they could do to help her stay in this realm without
success.
Her body was at a disadvantage coming
into this second surgery, but without the surgery, she would not have survived
either, as she was getting progressively more sick since Friday
morning.
At this time, the funeral is at Menorah
Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on Tuesday, August 28th at 12:30
PM. It is located on Northlake Boulevard. Please google for the
address and directions or call them directly at (561)
627-2277.
I wish that I could have
personally called each and every one of you to share this information
instead of sending an e-mail, but this just was not possible. And as I
have shared with you all, all along, Enid was aware of everyone's emails and so
very grateful for the sharing of your love and kindness. It made
being in the hospital so much easier for her.
So for now, I thank you all for your
kind emails of support for both Enid and myself. And I hope you will
tell me who you are if you attend the funeral so that I can give you each a
hug of gratitude and love.
Blessings and
love,
Ilene |
