Robert,Just in case you guys are free this Sunday and feel like driving to Mountain View (alas, I won't be there).Hope you are having a wonderful summer; the weather in Sacramento has been heavenly!Kisses to you both,OlgaFOGOnce again, DSRC gives you a terrific band consisting of session musicians and backing players of live tours, whose resumes are top notch, but whose names are not known to the general public. One of the more pleasant surprises last summer was FOG. We booked them strictly on Bassist Peter Barshay’s reputation and previous gigs with other top talent at DSRC. Still, we had only heard a bit of their recorded play just weeks before they appeared and were not sure how it would translate live. No problem. What we had seen from Mr. Barshay before was there again; this time, with just a bit more energy topping previous Jazz Master performances since it was a personal project with his and his mates’ own original tunes in the mix, not just as sidemen for other artists. Knocked it out of the park. We look forward to having them back.FOG is a jazz trio that has been working together for many years, both in the U.S and in Europe. This eclectic group includes guitarist Brad Buethe (Jack Macduff, Joe Lovano, Paula West and whose session work can be heard in: What Women Want, Six Feet Under, The Osbournes, The X-Files, Frasier, and others) , bassist Peter Barshay (Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Tony Williams, Bobby McFerrin) and drummer/percussionist Brian Melvin (Jaco Pastorious, Mike Stern, Michael Brecker, Bob Weir). They are all long-time veterans of the NYC and San Francisco jazz scenes.FOG has mastered the art of intimate musical conversation. They blend a deeply rooted feeling for jazz with influences from other musical traditions: blues, funk, gospel, reggae and rock. Their soundscapes can take on a dream-like quality as well as an intense, hard-driving feel.Using jazz as a skeletal format, FOG blends songs from many genres and composers (Wayne Shorter, James Taylor, Bob Marley, Peter Gabriel, Brian Wilson and many others). They mix in their original work as well, giving their music a fresh and unique sound.$15.00Sunday, August 14th7:30 PMDoors open @ 7:00Tickets Available at the café or online at
