I was thinking that bartering may be a good way to network.  You could
post your skills to Craigslist and ask what others would have to offer to
see if we could use 'em or maybe an indirect barter or maybe an IOU if
they can't be used.

Some services you could offer: tutoring (on medical records or anatomy or
yoga or history or gardening or art or maybe some computer stuff),
cooking, reviewing grammar, some pet care.
