We acquired that cassette tape years ago, but never sent it to anybody.  I
re-found it again and Noelle said I should send it to somebody who has a
cassette tape player, since few people have those type of players any
more.

I would use an antihistamine [0].  It should help open the eustachian
tubes [1].  If he has too much ear wax, I recommend going to a doctor
since over-the-counter ear cleaners are mostly useless.
