Thanks to Hope Bohanec for bringing this to our attention via a posting in BAARN. Note that the $10 fee includes a vegan continental breakfast and vegan lunch (the price of those two meals, alone, would exceed $10)! Those of us who attended this conference last year very much enjoyed it. Like last year, we will do a carpool from Santa Clara County and will probably eat dinner together at a vegan restaurant in before heading for home. -- Mike = = = = = = = = = = = = = http://upc-online.org/forums/2013/ [United Poultry Concers] UPC Forums<http://upc-online.org/forums> You are cordially invited to attend United Poultry Concerns' Eleventh Annual Conference On the topic of [Conscious Eating: Local, Organic, Plant-Based - What is Truly Sustainable?] Saturday, April 6, 2013, Conference Hosts: United Poultry Concerns, Animal Place, Organization for Animal Advocacy [United Poultry Concerns] [animal place logo] [Berkley Organization for Animal Advocacy] The Second Annual Conscious Eating Conference will inform attendees about the true nature of sustainable food choices. There's a growing awareness of food and its relationship to our planet, our communities, our health, and the animals who share our planet. As we face unprecedented global challenges from climate change to food deserts, we realize that agriculture plays a crucial role in these challenges and that it is our responsibility to make informed and conscious choices. Discussion will focus on issues surrounding backyard chicken-keeping, small-scale farming, "eating local," animal-free farming, sanctuary experience, and vegan living as alternatives to the agribusiness model of food production and animals. Location: YWCA Building 2600 Bancroft Way (one block east of Telegraph Avenue) Across the street from the UC mpus This meeting is not sponsored by the YWCA.
