Here's a clean proposal. Project name: xvoice-sphinx Disk space need: 700MB (data, source (scripts & all), and binaries) Goal: Replace xvoice's back-end speech recognition (currently IBM ViaVoice) with CMU Sphinx (an open-source project). How goal fits with OpenOffice: As IBM ViaVoice for Windows and Dragon NaturallySpeaking allows special functionality in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS IE, we could target allowing special functions to be accessed in OpenOffice applications (correction is the main thing, but other functions may be added). Reason for choosing CollabNet's OpenOffice foundry rather than any other: disk space and possible bandwidth limitations of other foundries, and compatibility of goals.
