My aunt Doris. She had a birthday on February 4th and
was 94.
Hi,
Sad news Doris passed away Tues night. It was her time for sure. She was
really bad these past few days,
Thanks for all your cards and flowers and good thoughts.
She loved you kids.
We are having just a short grave site service. Probably a
memorial in the spring when the weather is better.
Here's a link if you want to take a look.
love, me Dear cousins, (Alice, can you forward to Kenny, Ellen, Ron and
other emails I don't have?)
Doris died at Connecticut Hospice in the evening of Tuesday,
February 25. My sister and I were at her bedside, somewhat by
chance. It was a last minute decision that Nancy take the train
from NYC to Branford yesterday afternoon, and that I pick her up. We
arrived at Hospice at 5 PM. We hope she knew we were there, but she was
deeply asleep.
We sat and talked and spoke to her from time to time,
thinking perhaps she might hear. At 6:30 she coughed a little and the
Physician's Assistant came in, examined her, and closed the curtains around
the bed. A few minutes later Mom took one last breath. The PA
checked her signs and said, "She has passed." She then left us alone
saying we could stay as long as we wanted. When we were
ready, aides helped to pack up her things, and the PA walked us
to the main door and gave sympathetic hugs. We couldn't have asked for a
more loving or peaceful end to Doris's amazing life.
Thank you all for the support and love you have shown me in
the last year. You have been great comforts to me and to my
family. Thank you to Anne for mail delivery, to Joan for visits at the
hospital, to all of you for your notes and kind words. I am blessed with my
friends.
We are having a private burial service. Donations to
Hospice, if you are so inclined, or to a charity of your choice was her
request. This is the link to her obituary at Smith's Funeral Home.
