I think I discovered the problem.  After I rebooted my computer, the way
daylight savings time is calculated is slightly different.  So, any file
created before 2012 is one hour off.  So, it was trying to back up a lot
of files unnecessarily.

I changed the back-up script so anything file changed within 1 hour but
have exactly the same size will not be backed up.  Since I only back up
these drives everywhere other week at 2am, I don't think should ever be a
problem.  (If you decide to start working on stuff at 1am, 2am, or 3am,
this could be a problem.  I have no intention of doing this.)
