You're right in that it would be a good idea to turn off remote services on the macbook. Thanks for the information about turning off the Secure Boot before installing Linux Mint. -----Original Message----- From: Robert [http://dummy.us.eu.org/robert] Sent: Thursday, October 02, 2014 10:06 AM To: Chris; Chris;, Christopher J;, Christopher J Subject: RE: Do you know about the new "Bash Bug"? > From: , Christopher J" <http://www.optum.com/~Chris> > Date: Thu, 2 Oct > 2014 13:18:55 +0000 > > I changed a user setting on Amy's Macbook so the > Guest user is disabled. I did the same thing. The problem was that it has UEFI on it. So, I needed to turn off Secure Boot and enable Legacy Boot to get Linux installed. So, now, if I ever want to boot into Windows (why I would do that, I don't know) , I have to get into the BIOS and switch back to Secure Boot. I installed the latest Linux Mint Debian Edition on it.
