It would've been useful to show the timeline up to the point where Ethan Hawke shot an older version of himself. But, this film raises so many philosophical questions, I think. For example, if you only see the end-result of 10,000 people being killed (or the goal in doing so) and that it saves far more lives than perish, is it enough to trust the goal in killing 10,000 people or do you have to be convinced by learning all the knowledge up to that point to come to that conclusion? I.e., does the ends justify the means? Or, are the ends the same as the means and that, even if there are more killed ultimately, is it better to just prevent the immediate killings?
