The quality of the search results from Google, unfortunately, are far higher than DuckDuckGo. You can make Google not track you, but it is a lot of work. In Firefox, you could try AdBlock Plus and use the EasyPrivacy subscription. (Make sure you also toggle off the "Allow some non-intrusive advertising" option.) And then, also in Firefox, use Ghostery and disable all the trackers. And then, use a proxy (I use http://webwarper.net/ww/google.com ) to shroud your IP address.
