Yes this is often a sign of drought stress. I don't think you should worry
though because is does happen to most of the Pogodas planted here. The deep
root watering should help. Your tree looks very healthy all things
considered. Â

Five years ago this month we planted our tree. It is getting spots on leaves
which turn yellow and fall off. Flower buds are coming,but leaves look bad.
This happened last summer too and it survived. Wondering if Bermuda grass
sucking out all the water. It's impossible to get rid of this grass. Bought
deep watering stake thing to help get more water to roots and have been using
