Greetings! Hope you are doing great and must have geared up for a long
weekend :)

Robert provided me your references and reaching out to you to get some
basic understanding regarding co-housing, subdivision rules in where-I-live and
nearby county.

To give you a brief introduction about me and my ideas- I was amazed by the
benefits of co-housing and strongly think I should be a part of community
and ecosystem wherein I just don't leave with my neighbor but get connected
with them. I shared my ideas with few friends and I think we will like to
explore more and see if we could form a small co-housing project.

Looking at real estate market in bay area, I am finding extremely difficult
to list down properties/land which could be  potential fit for our project.
And I have few questions with regard to this

1) I see lot of open space, land in various counties in bay area and while
talking to real estate agent, they tell me that we can only construct
single family home and they mention me sub-division is not possible. I am
not sure why and not sure if city planning department can help us to
understand regulation, requirement which categorized if land could be
sub-divided or not. Could you please point us to any resource which will
help us to guide and help us to understand the rules in this regard

2) Even if a specific land is not categorized as possible for sub-division,
can we not approach city with our ideas of co-housing (not motivated by
profit) and asked for their help for change in zoning and category? Will
city not give any special consideration for co-housing project especially
looking at current houses crises in bay area?

3) Which city (planning team) in the bay area could be more helpful and
cooperative for sub-division/ co-housing project

4) Is there a way wherein we could approach city and ask for help with land
for setting up some co-housing project? Will they be able to help us in
securing some land for our project?

I am not sure if you are the right person to direct all 4 questions.
Apologies if you do not have answer to any of these questions and
appreciate if you could direct to someone who may help us in getting answer
to any of these questions.
