1. Keep the window on the rear door closed. If it's even open a little, it's easy for a thief to remove the screen and slide the window open. At the very least, keep it closed while you're gone. Opening the window above the kitchen sink is a good alternative since it's unlikely that someone would climb up there to get through the window. 2. Slide those metal sliders on the bedroom windows to lock the windows into place if you must open the bedroom windows. Same goes for the windows in the living room and other windows. The tall sliding window in the front room also has a metal slider -- use if you must open that window. 3. Keep garage sliding door closed and semi-locked. By "semi-locked", I mean that, besides engaging the flat piece over the knob, the knob should be turned so that it's inconvenient for a robber to open the garage door. 4. Put your laptop away on the weekend. Your laptop will be an obvious target for a thief. Making it inobvious may help deter them from stealing it. 5. Keep the driveway gate closed. Perpetrators don't like making noise when doing something nefarious, and opening the gate is noisy.
