You mean, your phone number for two-factor authentication? Yeah, that is a number and they use that to send the security codes to. But, the phone number is not the key. At least, not in this story. The main point here is that the perps knew the old password that the phone company had. (I just looked just now and our PIN for our cell service looks like some random number. Perhaps it was assigned to us. We've never had a need to use it since we just use the online portal.) Thanks for the story, 'tho. Interesting.
