RE: from Gail re: the terrible Equifax data breach



Personally, I put a freeze on all of my credit report agency accounts.
I did this about 15 years ago.

However, it's not clear whether the PINs associated with the credit
freezes were also compromised.  I may go through the trouble of resetting
my PIN for Equifax, but it is very onerous -- you need to write letters,
receive letters, send more letters, etc.

I'm cc'ing my sister on this email.  She had had her identity stolen a few
years ago and has had to go through quite a bit of trouble to correct the
many problems.  (I also had checks stolen about 20 years ago and that
caused me much grief, too, at the time.  It's been OK since.)
