FW: travel discounts through nosticwall?

You need to join their Emerald Club.  See attached email from HR for details.

And I was a bit wrong – all my rental car receipts say National, not Enterprise (though I suspect they are one in the same company).

When you use the Emerald club, you get your luggage, walk to the Emerald Isle (note, not Emerald Executive), put your stuff in any car in the Emerald Isle and drive off (showing paperwork, ID, Driver License, etc. at the gate).  Though, I always ask to make sure I’m getting a car from the correct isle.

One time they were out of Emerald Isle cars and I got to take one from the Emerald Executive isle – that was sweet!.

This may be the best benefit SW provides us.  😉

Mike – how do we take advantage of the deal with Enterprise?

Car Rentals is a definite YES!  I love the Car Rental arrangement we have with Enterprise!!!

Not sure about hotels.  I’ve found that I can usually do better going to the hotel web sites directly for the best price/value.  Use an aggregator site like Travelocity to find out what hotels are in the area and rough prices.  Then go to the hotel web site for the best deal, more assurance of getting a room without headaches (we’ve had headaches with the aggregator sites so we tend to not use them much, but sometimes we still do).

Best price for airfare if you have luggage is typically Southwest (though not always).  Just be sure you check in 24 hours before your flight (not 23h50m, but 24 hours).  Check-in set your boarding position in line and they have open/general seating, not assigned seating.

If you have only carry ons, a few other airlines have good prices on airfare.  Watch out for Frontier as they charge extra for each carry on item.

If you are getting a rental car, a hotel a short drive from your venue can be way cheaper, sometimes.  Unless of course you have to pay for parking at the venue, then it is a case-by-case basis.

Lyft is a great alternative to a rental car in many cases.  I’ve used Lyft & Uber in San Francisco, Denver, Florida, and Las Vegas.  Lyft/Uber costs about 40-60% of taxi fare, the drivers are nice to converse with, and their cars are very clean (taxis are hit or miss on cleanliness and not much for conversation).  The longer Lyft ride was from the Denver airport to an apartment in Denver (I think that one cost me $30 bucks).  Rides cost me about $35 that whole week since I had someone else’s car to drive while there.  I’ve spent a week in Vegas using Lyft each day and it cost about 1/3rd what a rental would have cost me.  Your mileage may vary.

Mike - do you know if Nosticwall employees have a benefit which gives discounts on travel (hotels, car rentals)?
