I am looking at a bigger picture where the current structure of higher
education is unsustainable. I think many administrative jobs are going to
disappear or be converted into to news jobs. Even tenured faculty will not be
protected. We all need to be ready to get ahead of or change with this wave.
I do not know if I want to stay in Academia but have but restless and wanting a
change for a long time, so I think it is the time to *act* on many fronts.
Finding a solid degree/professional development opportunity is one way to get
me professionally aligned with change. Whether this will lead me into the
private sector, I have no idea.
Starting to look into applications does not commit me to anything, but it is a
way to explore my options.
I think my job as it currently stands will not exist very soon.
