Regardless of whether this laptop is the real deal or not, it's bizarre
that anybody, let alone these people, would not encrypt their hard drive
these days.

(I remember telling my co-worker Mike that I do full-disk encryption of my
work laptop and he told me that he didn't think it was necessary for him
to encrypt his laptop because there wasn't that much confidential
information on it.)

Maybe the very fact that it was *not* encrypted should've been a hint that
it was a plant.
