My Follow up on the Zoom Memorial and Video Screening for Joan:
Hello everyone,
I'm sending this message out again. Apologizing in advance if you already got this or if you never got it. This is a slightly different message, so please read on. I'm blind copying because someone asked me for that.
Some of you attended the video screening and memorial for our dear friend Joan Lichterman held on Nov 14th, and some were not able to attend. As you know, we lost our dear Joan on July 26, 2020. This film is called: FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT: CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF JOAN LICHTERMAN. Afterward, I had about thirteen people who asked me for a copy of the film on DVD. I have a list of 13 names. I am in the process of making those copies. The cost would be $4.25 plus shipping, if you want a copy. The cost with postage would be maybe $10 total, to mail it in the U.S. But if you live near me (Oakland, CA) then you can just pick one up, so no postal cost involved.
I thought there may be a few more of you (besides the original thirteen) who would like a copy of this film as a keepsake or perhaps you have not gotten a chance to view it yet and want to. Please let me know now so I can order enough copies.
In case you just prefer the VIMEO link, I will also include it here at the bottom. The issue with the Vimeo link is that you need to have a pretty fast computer connection to watch the 1.5 hour long film without it slowing down sometimes or maybe even stopping your computer and requiring a reboot. Watching it from a DVD is definitely preferable.
For those who may not know: This is a 1.5 hour film tribute, which includes photos of Joan and her friends and family, and various short cell phone tributes sent to me by her close friends and colleagues, with musical selections I put in, and further biographical information written by Joan, about Joan’s amazing life of activism and outstanding community work. A number of you had made donations to help us get the film edited last spring, so I wanted to make sure you know it is completed.
ALSO: Joan did get to see this film several times, luckily. She also gave me her feedback and input as it was being made. I'm glad I had it 90% finished while she was still with us. She enjoyed it. I'm a new filmmaker by the way, and films take time to make so thanks for your patience.
OK - As I mentioned, we had a really nice Zoom event on Nov 14th, which 43 people were able to attend. We screened this film. If there is an interest later on, we can screen it again in the new year and save time afterward to share our thoughts and feelings and memories of Joan.
Hope everyone is doing well, and staying safe, during these extraordinary times.
VIMEO LINK HERE: (please be aware, the vimeo could run slowly or get blurry if you have a slow connection. DVD viewing works much better for a 1.5 hour film)
Thanks to all who helped me make this film possible!
Hope you enjoy it. Again, if you want a DVD copy, let me know.
