Looks like there may be a workaround to the inaccessibility to Kanopy by
San Jose library card holders.

You can apply for a Santa Clara County Library card at:

 https://sccld.org/card/

Then, using the eCard, apply for Kanopy membership at:

 https://sccl.kanopy.com/

I'll try this some time.
