If Ted has only read

he would know that ranked-choice voting does not result in the most
satisfying result, but it is better than plurality ("winner take all")
voting.

There are lots of voting systems which are better.

The Debian project has been using
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condorcet_method for years, and everybody is
happy with it.
