question about building permit for new solar panels on roof.

Hello D3 Peralez staff:
We decided to add solar to our rooftop this year. We have been 
looking forward to making the switch to solar power. However, the 
building permit department has held up our permit for about 3 
months. The solar company has been trying to work with the 
department but the department has asked for more information since 
it is a newer technology they are not familiar with apparently.
Is there any way your office can help break this logjam?
