"The same set of people who could travel to a luxury Hawaiian resort could
also watch The White Lotus and not feel implicated in its critique". I
don't think this lessens the strength of the satire. At least, you can
refer to the show when your liberal friends (or us, for that matter)
mention that we're flying to Hawaii. Or whatever.

"Whether he intended to or not, White has dramatized the contradictions of
liberalism as we know it". I think he very much did it intentionally,
very much the way Paul Goodman sarcastically mocked social norms.

Mike White does a great job at making everybody squirm. I think it should
hit the people in Silicon Valley the hardest, but probably also a number
of elite in Los Angeles, too.

I think Mike White has become one of my favorite directors, next to
Richard Linklater and a few others.

I skipped most of this since I think it has some spoilers since we didn't
watch the whole first season yet.
