"While gender equality has often been cited as a barrier to higher birth
rates in the past, this no longer seems to be the case."  Mongolia appears
to be exposing a natural experiment.  If South Korea's investments in
public daycare centers, free nurseries, and subsidized child care are not
helping, why does something equivalent in Mongolia not happening there.
Demographics are mind-blowing.

Obviously, the only option in the United States in the short term is going
to be to have better immigration.  Certainly not on the table at the
moment.
