And that's an attitude that sets you up for anxiety and depression." I don't think I agree with this. The bullying part is completely independent of whether someone is supervised or unsupervised. In both cirumstances, there can be anxiety and depression, whether they feel incapable of protecting themselves and later blame authority figures for failing to protect them, or whether the authority figure does protect them and then later find themselves incapable of defending themselves against bullies. Nevertheless, I do generally agree since it does make it easier to confront or question authority if there was no one in authority there to shield the kid.
