https://www.counterpunch.org/2023/11/17/grief-and-hope-in-face-of-the-failing-human-project/ "I have come to occupy a knowing that humanity likely will never alter its multifariously failing trajectory". I guess the core question trying to be answered here is whether people simply accept humanity's inevitable extinction or not. It always comes back to Aniara: if you were on the ship, would you remain calm and live out your life the best as you can or you would do something violent, like fight or riot or commit suicide? "Children of Men" (I guess that could be another film on the roster) and "Last Night" answer that by saying "riot and react", for the most part. I feel like we've seen an end-of-the-world film where that didn't happen, but I cannot think of it.
