It's sorta interesting how it's always the same story with the super-rich: it's almost always about access to energy. In the case of trains, it was coal. In the case of cars, it was oil. Now, in the case the AI, it's about enormous use of electrical power. And, I'm not so sure that ignoring the extinction part is that wise. Humanity will either expire itself through catastrophic global climate heating or through some other means. If we accept humanity's collective extinction (acceptance is another question), then we may have to accept AI "bodies" as the only surviving species. In other words, only if people accept our climate catastrophe will AI have a chance to rise to be a threat, regardless of the short-term oppression by the technological bosses.
