God, you're reminding me that there was a time (right around when you were
born, I guess) when I knew everything about computers. Now I know
nothing.
It's too late for me to use a different client; it's already done whatever
it's going to do to my computer. Probably there is some user
documentation I could look up if I really want to understand it.
But they already had a VPN; presumably this new one is offering them
something more. One thing I know it does beyond the VPN is it offers to
scan my computer to find and fix security holes. On mine it found
80-something of them, 11 of which it deems critical; it is patching those
as we speak.
But I'm definitely suffering from software rot; I can't run Firefox or
Thunderbird any more because of various speed and site failure issues.
In the book, I haven't seen the word "class" yet, but he definitely says
over and over that it's poor Black kids who get the horrible schools. One
of his complaints is about rich Black people not making this a big
political issue, although that's clearly not his main complaint!
